Why is it, that when I see webhosting plans like this one that offer things like 1 TB a month bandwidth, I have the urge to sign up for it and start hosting art websites for people with the subdomains? *twitch* *twitch* *twitch* ~~especially because most of the people who I'd trust not to be stupid with it don't need websites because they already have their own.~~ Maybe it's just the feeling of power involved with controlling ~~people's destinies~~ subdomains.

I am with dreamhost and I do that for friends. ^_^;;
plus, you get more space and bandwidth every week you are signed up with them.
I have like, a googleplex of each! Even with hosting people we barely use 4% of my package.

Hee! I've got this, like, primal urge to host people or something. I have no desire to transfer any of my current domains over, because they're hosted for free on a friend's server and I love the service plan, which consists of getting on IRC and seeing if

moloch or

isancho is on, and asking them to fix the problem. And none of those sites use enough bandwidth to make it worth popping them over to another server to avoid overloading Jeff's machine.

I just have this strange burning desire for bandwidth, I think.

Maybe bandwith is the internet version of BIG PENIS?

I'm on Dreamhost too. Like Tammylee pointed out, it increases every week and I'm like, "WTF am I going to do with all this space?"

Hee. I'm mostly interested in art, web design, and fan sites just because I'm envisioning the sort of sites that the denizens of the Day Dream Graphics forums (http://board.obsidian.com) have - they're mostly middle-school and highschool girls teaching themselves web design who need a place to post their layouts and fansquee.

Of course, the important question is ... what domain name would I get? We have to get our priorities straight here, y'know. It doesn't matter than I have no content and no use for it whatsoever ... but what domain name??

Hah! I have two. Used to have a third but gave that up 'cause the renewal came up when I was po', and I wasn't doing anything with it yet anyway. But oh, how it hurt.

I've got three: www.sfolse.net (webpage moribund for about five years now; I mostly use the space to store random files), www.telophase.net (currently just echoes LJ), and www.pandabuddha.com.

I got batwrangler.net soley because it amused me to be able to receive email @batwrangler.net -- of course I'm too cheap to spring for bannerless hosting...

If I wasn't so cheap I'd go out and look for webhosting solutions so I didn't have adverts all over my old and extremely neglected art site. If I could have auto-updating of pages like when you upload to DA maybe I'd actually do it, but I'm lazy and so can't be bothered to learn how to do that or to update pages manually. :)
