Well, just did my semi-regular going to my userinfo page, noting with surprise that several people have friended me, then added them all recklessly without regard as to whether I recognized them or not. This will especially come in handy during my current temp job, where I am forced to stare at a spreadsheet all day, and need frequent breaks to keep my brain from spilling out my ears, so I charge all of you to post often. My very life may depend on it.

I have officially declared myself allergic to Chee-Tos. The last three times I've had them, my lips have started breaking out -- this is a reaction I'm *not* wanting to encourage since two years ago right after AnimeFest my lips reacted to *something* and tried to peel themselves off my face for two weeks, necessitating intervention of the medical sort with a prescription steroid cream that instructed me not to apply a diaper to the affected part until after it had dried. Lovely.

Found two roasting chickens at the store, so am making chicken stock this weekend. And I have a question for those in the DFW area -- are there any places around here that sell meat that contains actual flavor? My mother and I were bitching to each other that the gravy from the chicken fried steak we cook (which is properly dark brown and only lightly floured - that thickly-battered stuff from restaurants Just Ain't Right) has no flavor when we make it anymore, and I realized that it wasn't us making bad gravy, it was that the /meat/ nowadays had no flavor. I thought about going to Whole Foods and seeing if they had some sort of expensive fancy round steak, but haven't stirred to do so yet.

I did figure out where the meat flavor is going -- a few weeks back I was buying spaghetti sauce and realized as I stood in front of the Wall o'Spaghetti Sauce fruitlessly searching for a spaghetti-sauce-flavored spaghetti sauce that a large percentage of the jars there were advertising "Meat Flavor!" And two and two made five as it usually does and I realized that this, obviously, was what They [TM] were doing with all my meat flavor. My mother concurs with my theory, for what it's worth.

I apologize for this reckless posting of information. I shall return to my normal content-free meme-posting anon.

Read and acknowledged. Do you want more palaeo articles, or just more strangeness from the home front?

Anything and everything would be peachy-keen. I am at the point where I am completely up-to-date with the morass that is [livejournal.com profile] customers_suck, just because I need those frequent small breaks. I really need to wander around LJ and see what-all communities are out there that are reasonably intelligent and highly active.

chickens and such

Hey! If you want chickens that have a taste either buy a kosher chicken, yes they are expensive, or a free range chicken. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much flavor they have. Also, around Campbell and Central there is a Tom Thumb with a kosher butcher, talk with him and tell him you want a hen to make stock with he will hook you up.

About pasta sauces with meat flavor, stay away from them. They are usually horrible. When I slum and buy premade sauces I stick to either Classico or Paul Newman's. They are usually tasty and not that expensive.

Hm...

Hi! Um, I found your livejournal through your devART page, and I was hoping you wouldn't mind if I friended you? I love your art, and your entries are interesting, too, so... Yeah. :D

I don't mind. If I had a problem with people reading my LJ I wouldn't have one. :) And so far I just friend back everyone who friends me, which especially works at the moment because, as I said, my job requires me to stare at a spreadsheet and think of synonyms and related words all day long, and I go off to read LJ for mental breaks.

That's good -- And ha, you're doing pretty much what I'm doing. I just started working in a computer lab for the semester (I work my university's info tech department). I've had lots of time for LJ cruising lately. :D
