So far for the usability test, I've got two no-shows and two shows. And have learned interesting thngs from them so far; quite looking forward to seeing how other people do.

The head of the Music Library sent out an email shortly before the end of work saying that DVDs and videos were flying off the shelf, so if anyone wanted to check some out for the holidays, to do so ASAP. I went and got DVDs of Neverwhere, which I've never actually seen, despite owning a degraded copy of a bootleg version for many years, of Gormenghast, which also I've never seen, Regency House Party, which I've seen the first episode of, and the first season of The League of Gentlemen, which I know nothing about except that it was recommended as being funny and twisted. Netflix has supplied me with the first DVD of To the Manor Born, and discs 1 and 2 of Fullmetal Alchemist. I should be well set up to be entertained while drawing.

I'm posting primarily to kill time while waiting for dinner: potato and leeks stewed in butter and olive oil. HUNGRY. WANT NOW. More of a braise than a stew - I think a proper stew has to have more liquid, right? But that's what the recipe called it. The book is Vegetarian Fast Food.* I went to the grocery store (at 5:30 PM the day before Thanksgiving. HA.) and would have had an entirely vegetarian haul if it weren't for the box of sausage biscuits I threw in when I realized I needed something to eat for breakfast. XD I'm in one of my eat-lots-of-vegetables moods and trying to hold to it as long as possible.

Instead of turkey, I'm finally cooking the beef roast that's been in my freezer for a while. Slow cooking, yum.

* Bit of a misnomer; at least for this recipe. It says to cook for 15-20 minutes, covered, and it's just been 15 and ... gonna need more than 5 minutes. AGH. HUNGRY.

ETA: My cat is attempting to eat my suitcase.

I'm very curious what you'll make of Gormenghast, which I found distressingly boring.

I used to work in the village where they filmed The LEague of Gentlemen. It is scarily realistic.

I should add that I *loved* working there.

Mmmm Gormenghast, which I sat through primarily for Steerpike. ooh he IS teh pretteh! yesh he isssss. I've been nearly three quarters through the book before I loaned it out. The book really had a claustrophobic feel to it.

Uhnn, that recipe sounds good! (Any chance of sharing? ^_~ )

Good luck drawing!

The recipe's reeeeally simple:

1 pound leeks
1 pound potatoes
2 Tb butter
2 Tb olive oil

You chop up the leeks and potatoes - the book I used said to make the chunks fairly big, so I did (about 1-inch chunks), and it took about 30 minutes for the potatoes to cook through, by which point the leeks were really mushy. Next time I'll chop the potatoes smaller. Melt the butter in a big saucepan with the olive oil, then put the leeks and potatoes in, cover, and cook on medium-low or so (the book says "Cook gently" which is really les than helpful) for 15-20 minutes.

Tasted good. Potatoes definitely needed salt (I am not one of those people who can revel in the subtle taste of potato without lots of salt XD).
