Migrainey

Do any of the people here who ahve migraines notice being extra tired or achy with it? I've had a headache all day that doesn't quite go away with regular drugs and I'll probably declare official migraine time-for-drugs by morning. And during the par tof the day where I decided that if I wans't going to be doing what I ought to be doing, I should be doing something else good instead, I went to the weight room in the apartment to work out. And I couldn't do more than about five-ten minutes on the bike and walking without feeling dead dog tired and vaguely barfy. I hadn't been to work out in three days, so it's not like the normal next-day tiredness. Dunno if it has to do with my headache or I'm coming down with that cold that's taking the rest of the country out or what. Hrm.

Yeah, I often get total fatigue with migraine. Enough that sitting up straight feels like too much effort, and I can't really put together rational sentences. The only thing that helps is sleep - and whereas usually if I nap during the day it just fucks up my sleep patterns, on these occasions it doesn't. Just makes me feel better.

Hope you get rid of it soon! Migraines are just awful.

I'm always whipped after a migraine--early bed, etc, takes care of that.

Poor thing *hugs*....I wish you didn't suffer so much of migraine. Good vibes for you.

Oh yes. After a migraine, I feel something reminiscent of being hungover, complete with fatigue.

I agree with everyone else. Migraines end up wiping my whole body for a couple days after. Fortunately I only get them about once every couple months, unfortunately since I get them so infrequently I have no good drugs for them. I had one recently on a day when I had to drive in Houston evening rush-hour traffic for about 3 hours. Driving with a migraine is bad, rush-hour traffic is worse, add the two together and you end up with something unrecognizable..... I was miserable for the rest of that day and recovering for the next two.

Yep, me too.

I'd also like to point out that you can have a migraine without ever even having a headache. I get those all the time. I've been to every doctor imaginable and was floored when the neurologist told me that the first time.

She also told me that people that get migraines can potentially have -any- headache go migraine, even if it started out tension or sinus related.

But yeah, I can be wiped out for several days, both during and after.

rachel_renee, there's a good pill to take once you know it's a migraine (actually there's several, but only one kind works on mine)...I'm already on the daily stuff and I still get at least one a week.

That might be the case this weekend - I've just been faintly wiped out although the headache was never bad bad (although I broke down and took a Relpax earlier, since the Advil wasn't doing a thing, and I'm now suffering the triptan hangover).

Of coruse, I might be coming down with that cold that's been going around, which starts out with a blah feeling, I've been told.

I'd never thought of it being a triptan hangover. Wow, that makes so much sense. I've just gotten used to taking the pill when a migraine starts, since I know nothing but sleep or the pill works (and with small children in the house, I've got to function or they'll paint the house blue or set fire to something).

I couldn't tell if it was the migraine or the meds, but a few weeks ago one of my LJ friends told me that triptans are known for vague hangover-type effects, and it made sense to me.
