I'm pretty impressed at how the phone picked them up - that wasn't the loudest they'd been. t would have been nice to see them, but I'll take being completely surprised by the barking as I staggered* walked out of the restaurant.
* I had two vodka tonics, and I watched the bartender make the second one ... about 3/4 vodka and 1/4 tonic, which is opposite the usual proportions.
I think you've hit something there. :D It wasn't /bad/ just indifferent. I had a filet of pan-fried calamari, which was good and not tough, but just ... blah. It needed a good sauce. I had calamari for lunch, too, at a different plce that had a wonderful beurre blanc with it ... yummmmmmm
The people next to me had the World's Pickiest Eater Ever. You had to wonder why the hell he agreed to come with them to dinner anyway.
He was wrangling with the waiter over what they had as I was seated. He doesn't like swordfish. He eventually settled for the halibut, but he thought it might be too heavy or fishy or something and was nervous. The restaurant had chicken on the menu - why the hell he didn't just order that, I don't know.
XD I used to hate it, but now I listen to it and go - not bad. Doesn't sound like me, 'cause I'm not hearing it through bone conduction, but hey. XD
I'm not sure when I'm gonna be picking up my badge and whatnot at the con, but it'll probably be decently early Friday, sicne I'll be at the hotel on Thursday night. :)
Yup, did that Monday. Got there at the right time to see the diver in the kelp forest tank feeding the fish, and got to listen to her too, since they had a mask with a microphone in it on her. And touched a stingray. And a starfish. And some sort of orange sluglike thingy. It felt pretty much like you'd think an orange sluglike thingy would feel. XD
Now I'm thinking I should have added "URK URK URK" to the transcription. But it was hard enough translating the Californian in my head to the Texan that you speak.
my voice never sounds as deep as it should. i'm always kind of shocked by what i really look and sound like--i'm shorter than i expect myself to be, and my voice is higher. XD in my head i'm a kind of giant, even though i know so many taller people.
hmmm, hmmm. i assume that i will at least be there a.s.a.p. because, um, what else am i gonna do? (actually, it's easy to get lost in conversations with the friend i'm staying with. XD) but i never got a volunteer schedule, so i don't know if i'll be working the reg room from 2 till whenever.
hey, maaaaybe we could work out some kind of lunch thingy? :D i'll have to check with amber, but if you wanna e-mail me with your cell number i can call you friday? or at least send you mine. or something.
because conventions are really all about squishing! :D

You are going or have gone to the aquarium, right? It redeems all the Steinbeckery and fisherman's wharf touristness for me at least.
