Chickens

So the reference to Methodist chickens in a post from yesterday will now be explained. If you know what "Church or chapel?" means, you can skip this next bit and just go straight to the bit under the cut.

I figured it would be way more well-known but after searching could only find this article that explains it. I have no idea when I picked up it, either when I was in Wales for school or just from reading a ton of mid-century British books. Anyway, in areas where Methodism and the Church of England are prominent, "Church or Chapel?" is asking you if you're CoE or Methodist.

The Chicken Chapel

The congregation, a friendly dog, and my finger.

We were walking by at about 5:30 pm which is presumably close enough to feeding time that they all showed up. One rooster was out, he crowed a bit, and then they all came out.

I am reminded of Andy Duncan's "Unique Chicken Goes In Reverse."
