Extruded European Fantasy Product was what I was preparing to write back in high school, before I pivoted into military sf/space opera! I would actually be really good at it once I refamiliarized with the current tropes. God knows, I read a lot more Extruded European Fantasy Product as a kid than I did actual science fiction. I love that stuff - I remember doing a bunch of research into Swiss mercenaries, etc. for Origami Souls, although it is (as you have guessed) more Asian-inflected culturally.
