In Monterey...

Made it to Monterey. Am now very tired from not lseeping last night* and not eating or drinking much. The last thing I had to eat was on the plane - a packet of pretzels - and that was at about 12:30 my time, and it's 8PM by my body clock. So, y'know.

Just logging in mostly to test that the highspeed connecton in the hotel works - admirably, as you can see - and to let you know that you can now officially buy swag with the Project Blue Rse cover on it from DeviantArt. Any money made (25% of the sale price - DA is quite mercenary) goes towards funding the print run, I expect.





* I didn't get to bed 'til about 1, then at 3 got a panic attack over OMG I AM GOING TO BE ON A PLANE and almost threw up and I'm not entirely sure when I got back to sleep.

OK. It's 50% of the profits above the base cost. I tended to make the price of each $3-4 above the base cost.

I;m thinking overall price - it's 50% above the base cost, but for the things I picked and the prices I put on them, it tends to work out to about 25% of the total cost.

I ust ate at Chinese restaurant near my hotel. The service was abysmal, bt the food was great and since I have a fridge in my room, I got my leftovers boxed up. Now I just have to scam eating utensils from somewhere and I[m good to go. XD

The cover looks schweet. You colour really well. Are the inks done manually, or digitally? How long did that take to colour? (apologies if you've mentioned that on DevART, my brain is acting stoopid).

The inks were digital - the whole thing was, from roughs to final, actually, which is unusual for me. Coloring ... far longer than it ought to have, because of several false starts and my tendency to make things more complicated than they ought to be. Probably about 15-18 hours work, spread out over most of a week.

It's actually REALLY easy.....

Do the base color, then use one of the pastelly-type brushes (the one I use is labeled as Dry Brush with a default size of 39). Keeping the base color, set the to Screen and play. For the dark, set it to Multiply.

I tried printing it for shits and giggles...yeah...the lineart went blughseugh. But the colors are pretty. XD
