I feel fortunate not to know who the McElroy family are, and I am not going to seek to remedy my ignorance.

They must be extremely fabulous celebrities to freeze out two perennially popular guests like Scalzi and Rothfuss! And I am burned out on celebrity.

I think it’s more on the order of Scalzi and Rothfuss do cons way more than the McElroys do, so you don’t get much of a chance to see the McElroys. And you pretty much never get the entire clan doing a signing at the same time.

If you’ve heard of the Shmanners, Sawbones, Wonderful, The Adventure Zone or My Brother, My Brother, And Me podcasts, that’s them. They started out doing video game reviews and comedy (Monster Factory, where they try to break game character creators, for one) and expanded from there.

They do have an absurdist sense of humor that you have to like to be a fan, but it’s kind of delightful seeing and hearing them interact, especially in The Adventure Zone, which is the three brothers playing D&D with their dad.
