Happy New Year (shortly)

It’s a quiet evening around here. We decided not to drive across the metroplex to a party given by friends because we’d traveled to two Christmas celebrations and had friends overnight in the course of six days and were all peopled out.

So I’m sitting on the couch reading book samples on my ereader while Toby plays a game he got for Christmas, Wolfenstein: The New Order, which we have taken to calling Captain Manpain Punches Nazis. Toby’s not quite as entertaining playing this one as he is playing Fallout, alas.

Also the skin on my index finger is extra dry which has caused my fingerprint recognition thingy on my phone not to work. OH THE HUMANITY

Fingerprint thingy: same, all winter unless it's very warm in the room. Eh. (Fallback is numeric pin--I've become quite fast at it this past week.)

Yeah, it seems my fingerprints degrade over time so every few months I have to re-set them, but this was way more abrupt than usual!

I have to moisturize my hands after almost every shower during the winter.

I always thought of it as Captain America Goes to Hell.

I ought to do so every time I wash them—wintertime my knuckles get cracked and bleed. :/

I didn't bleed, they just became open, raw, red, and painful. If I keep on top of it after showers, generally it doesn't get bad enough for me to need to moisturize after every handwashing, which is a relief.
