I put the camera rig out today. In an attempt to figure out a food mix that would discourage the doves, I filled it half full of finch seed mix, then topped it with freeze-dried mealworms.
It worked! Doves don't like mealworms.
You know who does like mealworms?
Zeus likes mealworms! He patronized the feeder dish for a long time this morning.
After eating his fill, he deserted it and nothing came by until this evening, when Hera took the evening shift.
I'm not sure she likes mealworms, though, as she stared at them for a long time, but didn't seem to eat any of them.
And that was it! They didn't finish the dish, and since freeze-dried mealworms smell as rank as Satan's armpit, the dish was carefully detached from the rig and left outside overnight. We shall see if it survives the night or if I shall be contacting the company and requesting to purchase another one. :)
