birbs

Rain threatened today, so I put the camera on the porch, facing the fence. I expected a giant dove scrum, given that the big feeder was empty and we didn't have the time to fill it before leaving. I was not disappointed.

But first, Zeus showed up THREE MINUTES after I set the camera out. I think he's feeding babies, because he kept showing up until the dish was empty.

And now the doves, Manny, Moe, and Jack.

This next sequence of photos forms a little story. To start, check out the fence in back.

Anyway. Here's another photo form some time later that I like to think is one of the two dislodged doves getting his own back.

I feel ya, Zeus. I feel ya.

Nice shot of Zeus in motion.

The bluejay showed up twice, but didn't pose any more nicely than this.

Zeus is desperate to feed his growing family. He showed up shortly after I took the camera inside, right after I took the camera out of the rig. He also didn't notice that I'd filled the big feeder up, and after he inspected the porch and found the rig missing, he resorted to poking about the grass under the feeders for seeds that the finches and doves had knocked out. I stuck the camera through the blinds and got this pic.
