Panicking as scheduled

And of course I'm poking through the conference information on the Internet Librarian conference I'm going to this month, and see that the dress code is stated as "Business Casual." Yeah, I know that all pro conferences pretty much are, but that just makes me start panicking over the fact that my wardrobe is more properly characterized as Business Crummy than Business Casual. And how am I going to fit both conference clothes and con clothes for Yaoi-Con into the same suitcase?

At least I'm going to visit family this weekend. If I panic at Mom we might go shopping. XD

I also was musing on how the conference doesn't have coffee breaks, it has "networking breaks," and then realized OMG I don't have business cards! I don't have the correct networking ritual paraphernalia! I sent an email off to the admin office wodnering if there was time to get them before I left, and the administrative assistant* - who hadn't even been the recipient of the email, BTW - flat-out teleported down to my cube with the sheet of paper that had the five designs I could choose from. I have far too much art background; I had to pick the slightly more expensive version, but they said it was OK. It usually takes abut a week and a half to get them done, so I should have them by the time I leave.

My third panic point is that my iPod battery died RIGHT BEFORE I have to drive across Texas to my mother's house. So I get burn CDs tonight! I'm taking the iPod into the Apple store Thursday morning before I leave for MOm's - they're supposed to be able to do repairs and such there, but from what I understand the battery repair is to give you a new iPod so there won't be time to transfer data to it. *sigh* I can't mail it in because I have to have it for the plane ride - no other option there.

But at least I've reserved my hotel room today - Quality Inn Monterey on Munras Ave. - so I got something accomplished towards the trip.

Gosh, look at the time, only ten minutes left of work.

* The one who really runs the library. You know the sort of position it is. :)
