RIGHT

I have had it up to HERE with this. From now on NOBODY is allowed to use this phrase OR ANY VARIANT OF IT ever again, noteven in emergency situations:
[She/He] pushed [her/his] mop of unruly [color/texture] hair out of [her/his] eyes.
FIND ANOTHER WAY TO COMMUNICATE THAT INFORMATION.

I am also putting you on notice for someone blowing or pushing a stray lock or curl out of their eyes or face.

This notice has been brought to you by reading too damn many ebook samples in an effort to figure out what I really want to read.

I regret to inform you that I am stealing these sentences and using them in my writing asap. I can't help it; it's reflex.

The toddler has started using both hands to brush tousled hair out of face, from cheeks to back behind ears. It's way cute. I'll have to find another way to describe it, I guess.

Even if they've *just* finished running a looooong marathon and are all hot and sweaty and their long hair is dripping?... :butter wouldn't melt:

Read Stray by Andrea Höst if you haven't done that yet ^^

Excellent book and permafree ^^ - to draw you into the beauty that is the Touchstone Trilogy plus Gratuitous Epilogue.

... only do so if you can handle first-person diary entries as narrative (although later on there is dialogue and all, too)

Or alternatively her one-off And All the Stars.

Sherwood and Rachel like her work, too ^^

You mean like so?

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2016-01-11 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
NOPE! Not MY damn fault they forgot to bring a hair tie!

YES EXACTLY

I read the sample of it, and it didn't grab me. :/ (Right now, I think I'm looking for more generic extruded fantasy product type stuff. It's always so hard to tell what it is my backbrain wants to read...)

Oh, right, right - a bit more generic (as in I did not get as grabbed by the second book as by the first book) is the Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman. Has the advantage of having a female Librarian as the protagonist. She does a bit of James Bonding and some Sherlock Holmesing and just being fun and at the center of stuff

There's Dave Duncan's Seventh Sword trilogy - the swordsmen all have long hair, but they wear hair clips, which are even important to the plot.
