...

We replaced my car. SOMEONE ACTUALLY THOUGHT WE WERE GROWNUPS AND GAVE US A CAR.

And it's FREAKY because IT DOESN'T NEED A KEY. I just need to have the fob NEAR it and push a button and it STARTS.

Dude! That's like LIVING IN THE FUTURE or some shit. :) Congrats! I hope the car serves you well.

Isn't it cool how they do that? You don't even have to pull the fob out to get in for some of them - you just walk up and it unlocks itself when you pull the handle.

IT DOES THAT! Well, I have to push a button on the door handle to make it unlock, but the fob never needs to leave my bag! I AM LIVING IN THE FUTURE.

Wait till you misplace the fob...

It's attached to the keychain that contains my house and office keys and the swipe card I need to get into the building at work--if I lose it, I'm in a whole lot worse trouble than just the car! (Toby also has another fob tucked away in his office.)

Although I can now check if the keychain is lost in the house or just lost in the bottom of my bag by holding my bag next to the car and seeing if the mirrors open up automatically.

Also, if the battery dies, I can press a button on the fob that allows me to pull it apart and reveal a key, so I can unlock the car and trunk manually LIKE A BARBARIAN.

I think the fob should be implanted, anyway! Or at least worn as, say, a permanent ear stud.

I could then hang the RFID card that gets me into my parking lot from the other ear and never have to use my hands again!

Just like cattle tags! Yeah!

The Red Cross won't let me donate blood on the vanishingly small chance I might have mad cow disease. VINDICATED!
