BPAL review: Crossroads

Crossroads

BPAL description: This is form the Wanderlust collection. The forks of the road: an in-between place, sacred and tangibly magickal in innumerable cultures and faiths. This scent is dark with mystery, taut with power. A chill twilit garden of blooms over dry earth and mosses, heavily laden with incense and offertory herbs.

In vial: A sharp, dark, floral, that smells of dirt. Interesting.

Wet: Not quite as dirtlike, but still interesting. Not in a "I'm going to wear this" way but in a "Huh" way.

Dry: The dirt comes out as it dries - this isn't a bad smell, because I've always liked the smell of dirt, since I was a kid*. After a bit I can smell the incense/herbiness, and there's an edge of floral, but it's underscored by the dirt.

Notes: Cat not impressed. An interesting scent, and it makes you wonder how the Lab achieves the dirt smell. If there were more florals and less incense/herbs, I'd say it smelled like gardening, but at the moment it smells like gardening at midnight. XD I don't really want to walk around smelling like dirt, but I'm glad I got it to try. However, even if I liked it, I can feel my nose closing up as I sniff it, just about like Jester, so there's something in it I'm sensitive to. A bit later, the dirts's almost blended in. The forum people say it's jasmine-y; I wonder if this is what I'm characterising as the incense/herby smell, or if it's the faint floral I'm getting? Anyway: interesting in an intellectual sense, and I'm going to wash it off so I can breathe again. :D

* When I was a little kid, I used to eat it. This probably explains a lot about me. XD
