Is there a way to remove the *&%$^& headers and footers when compiling?

Um, I think it's File / Compile / Page Settings / Header and Footer, and just take the codes out.

..Why don't I just find my dreamwidth password and friend you there?

OK, it wasn't actually obvious that I needed to remove the things from the text boxes to disable the header and footer, especially since there were nice little check boxes underneath that, as far as I can tell, made no difference whatsoever if they were checked or not. (I'm also short of sleep, which might have something to do with it...)
