My gun safety story is from working in a museum. We got an antique gun expert in to help us evaluate a few boxes of old rifles that had been damaged.* He remonstrated me for sitting next to the box in the line of fire when he was holding the guns. It wasn't until the next day, when he was gone, that I realized I should have pointed out that when I was taught about gun safety, it was incumbent on the wielder of the gun to not point it at someone, instead of incumbent on the other person not to be pointed at.
* Pakced away in wooden boxes. The room they were in flooded at one point. Sum total of care seemed to consist of opening the boxes, throwing in packets of dessicants, and then LEAVING THEM THERE FOR YEARS. Yeaaah, there were some nice ruined stocks there.
