Storm damage

We seem to have come through mostly unscathed except for the tree that almost didn't survive the drought. It's broken and leaning - still, technically, alive because half the trunk isn't broken but it's leaning at a bad angle and the next big storm to come through will probably finish it off. Right down on top of the brick fence at the back of the house, I expect. Poo.

We've got a professional horticulturist friend, and we're gonna shoot her pics and have her advise. I think the question is mostly - do we dig the stump out or do we cut it off at the break and let it be a bush, and will it make a nice bush?
