We had a newly-working porch light, a large bowl of candy, and zero Trick-or-Treaters. So we are left with a newly-working porch light and a large bowl of candy, which I really have to call an unexpected win.

(I even heard kids' voices outside at one point, but nobody rang the bell! And we turned the light off a little past 7:30 because dinner-making was at a point where neither of us could drop anything and rush to the door, so if there were any later T-or-T, we missed them.)

We had the same thing.

That means I now get to pig out on candy, though, which--yeah, no problem there!

It's got to be disposed of properly, after all!

Despite the porch and hall lights being on, and a lit jack-o-lantern on the porch, the kids kept skipping my place, too (I grant that it's kinda hard to tell who's worth it with these triple-deckers), so eventually I just put the bowl on the porch like I've done in years past (this is the first year in at least five years that I wasn't at a Halloween party), and it was empty within the hour. I was sorry not to see more kids in their costumes--there are a lot of families with adorable small children on this street--but at least I was able to give them candy!

And the Mummers came by later and did a little skit that was sort of a Rally-for-Sanity-and/or-Fear pastiche, so it's all good. I was always sorry to miss them by being out at Halloween parties, even sorrier than I was to keep missing the trick-or-treaters.

We had them ring the bell twice last year, each time in a group so large that just those two nearly wiped out our candy. XD

We had a very determined pile of kids ring our bell despite there not being any visible lights/other signs of life (from the street) or decorations. I am confused.

(We don't do trick or treat as we have a rather neurotic dog who is easily set off by doorbell ringing/knocking.)

In our neighborhood trick-or-treaters don't even begin to come out until 7:30ish, what with all the Harvest Festivals and Trunk-or-Treat events occurring everywhere else. There weren't as many kids out this year. We usually end up closing up shop early because we're out of candy, but this year we ended up divvying the leftover candy between us. It was weird.
