Girly fashion filter!

OK, it's not an actual filter, but if you're allergic to this sort of thing, you've gotten enough warning by now.

Hopefully the hotlinking works! If not, I shall swipe the pictures and put them on my own server.

Alas, I am not as well-proportioned as the model is, so that I have a much smaller waist, slightly smaller bust, and ungodly larger hips, but I made the decision not to actually look at myself in a mirror so I could keep the image of the model wearing this dress in my head as my self-image.

The shoes' name is "Stefanie," so I had to try them. Plus, they are Danskos and have rigid soles so that my arthritic feet don't bend as I am walking. The curve it imparts to the ball of my feet from the heel is not so great that it causes pain just to put my feet in them, as the Gothy stompyboots I bought right before acquiring the arthritis unfortunately do (I really need to sell them - they've been worn once, for four hours, and ened to go to someone who will use them). The Stefanie shoes have padded soles that actually feel comfy to walk in, and they rub my little toes, a problem that is solved by putting Band-aids on them (wide feet are a pain).

Danskos are the best shoes ever (even though I don't recommend walking several miles in them ow ow ow)

Okay, that's an awesome dress. I've actually been looking for something similar.

I have to strategically position a safety pin at the bustline for work, but other than that it works well - the wrap portion actually wraps far enough that there's little danger of a peep show, even in reasonably high winds.

It looks purplish in the picture, but it's really more desaturated in real life - a soft grey.

homg those shoes

I love these shoes! Girly shoes that are comfy to walk in! (Mostly! I shall probably change before we go downtown tonight and walk all over the place! XD)

Love the shoes - I go for the open-shank thing. It's a total crapshoot whether they'd be wide/deep enough for me, though. The last pair of Dansko I owned had to be given up after I nearly crippled myself wearing them to a party

But they felt so comfy when I tried them on ... !

I generally don't like dresses ... but my build is like the opposite of yours, so it's always a problem finding things that suit it.

The shoes are getting more comfy the longer I wear them, so I think the suede is stretching and accommodating my feet. Yay! But I don't know how well they'd fit you. :)

I haven't owned a dress since highschool - I always wore skirts and shirts, if I wasn't wearing jeans or pants. I dunno what flipped in my head and went "Dress. Dressssssss."

oh, those shoes look comfy. :D plus, they're not of the large, clunky hospital/pharmacy-type that i've seen on friends - these are actually cute!

I do like a lot of big, clunky shoes, but not with skirts. :D

[identity profile] arinye.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you kidding? Big clunky boots/shoes with skirts are awesome if you like the goth/punk/Tank-Girl aesthetic.

Incidentally, what shoe size are you? I love me some stompy gothboots, and mine just died. :< However, if they're knee-high, you'll have to find someone else, because I have my peasant ancestors' big honkin' calves.

The Dansko's will hopefully get more comfortable as you wear them. I live in Dansko's because of work, but when I first got them, they just made ny whole foot hurt because I wasn't used to the instep being raised like that. I forced myself to wear them for 48 straight hours (I was on call) and after that I've never, ever had sore feet at work.

That being said, the original intent in their design was for people who stand in one place all day (chefs, surgeons, etc). I walk in mine b/c they are practically an extension of my body, but it may not be comfy for people who don't wear them as much as I do. (Or stand in one spot for 6 hours.)

Go you!

I think my last dress was for my cousin's wedding. I think I was...19? Maybe? I had some skirts later, but I haven't worn a skirt since.... I was 23, I believe.
Trousers are so much more practical - and flattering - on me.

[identity profile] cicer.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
That dress is really darling. I love wrap dresses!

They're actually very short stompyboots, as I have big calves that never fit boots even before I was fat, They are, essentially, stompyshoes with a separate thingybopper that fits over the top like a spat and makes it them look like stompyboots. I will have to take a picture of them for you - they're Demonia, I think, but I can't find pictures of the show shoe, SHOE itself online.

I tend to wear a 7.5-8.5 depending on the manufacturer. I had to go to 9 for this, as Demonias run small and the rise of the heel forced my foot forward so my toes smashed into the front in the 8 (only available in whole sizes, I think).

If you think you might be interested, let me know and I'll grab a photo of them so you can see if you like them. They're not especially platformed - I think only 1.5-2" high (from memory! I could be wrong!) - but the heel is probably another 1.5-2" high.

I used to have some clog-type Danskos that were wonderful for my back, which had a strained ligament at the time. I'm not wearing the clogs as my regular shoes now because I had a tendency to twist my ankle in them.

I wore the shows above all day, and as they still felt good I wore them out to dinner and a movie on Friday night and that was a mistake as my feet went "OOH TIME TO SWELL NOW!" and the arthritic joint went "TIME TO SWELL EVEN MORE!" so I now have blisters on my toes and a big red scab right over the ball of my foot. :/ Lesson: I can wear them all day, or I can wear them for the evening, but not both. Ah well!
