Girly fashion filter!
OK, it's not an actual filter, but if you're allergic to this sort of thing, you've gotten enough warning by now.
Hopefully the hotlinking works! If not, I shall swipe the pictures and put them on my own server.

Alas, I am not as well-proportioned as the model is, so that I have a much smaller waist, slightly smaller bust, and ungodly larger hips, but I made the decision not to actually look at myself in a mirror so I could keep the image of the model wearing this dress in my head as my self-image.
The shoes' name is "Stefanie," so I had to try them. Plus, they are Danskos and have rigid soles so that my arthritic feet don't bend as I am walking. The curve it imparts to the ball of my feet from the heel is not so great that it causes pain just to put my feet in them, as the Gothy stompyboots I bought right before acquiring the arthritis unfortunately do (I really need to sell them - they've been worn once, for four hours, and ened to go to someone who will use them). The Stefanie shoes have padded soles that actually feel comfy to walk in, and they rub my little toes, a problem that is solved by putting Band-aids on them (wide feet are a pain).

It looks purplish in the picture, but it's really more desaturated in real life - a soft grey.

Love the shoes - I go for the open-shank thing. It's a total crapshoot whether they'd be wide/deep enough for me, though. The last pair of Dansko I owned had to be given up after I nearly crippled myself wearing them to a party
But they felt so comfy when I tried them on ... !
I generally don't like dresses ... but my build is like the opposite of yours, so it's always a problem finding things that suit it.

I haven't owned a dress since highschool - I always wore skirts and shirts, if I wasn't wearing jeans or pants. I dunno what flipped in my head and went "Dress. Dressssssss."

Incidentally, what shoe size are you? I love me some stompy gothboots, and mine just died. :< However, if they're knee-high, you'll have to find someone else, because I have my peasant ancestors' big honkin' calves.

That being said, the original intent in their design was for people who stand in one place all day (chefs, surgeons, etc). I walk in mine b/c they are practically an extension of my body, but it may not be comfy for people who don't wear them as much as I do. (Or stand in one spot for 6 hours.)

I think my last dress was for my cousin's wedding. I think I was...19? Maybe? I had some skirts later, but I haven't worn a skirt since.... I was 23, I believe.
Trousers are so much more practical - and flattering - on me.

showshoe, SHOE itself online.I tend to wear a 7.5-8.5 depending on the manufacturer. I had to go to 9 for this, as Demonias run small and the rise of the heel forced my foot forward so my toes smashed into the front in the 8 (only available in whole sizes, I think).
If you think you might be interested, let me know and I'll grab a photo of them so you can see if you like them. They're not especially platformed - I think only 1.5-2" high (from memory! I could be wrong!) - but the heel is probably another 1.5-2" high.

I wore the shows above all day, and as they still felt good I wore them out to dinner and a movie on Friday night and that was a mistake as my feet went "OOH TIME TO SWELL NOW!" and the arthritic joint went "TIME TO SWELL EVEN MORE!" so I now have blisters on my toes and a big red scab right over the ball of my foot. :/ Lesson: I can wear them all day, or I can wear them for the evening, but not both. Ah well!
