Good/bad

Good: discovering via my mom forwarding a blog post to me that one of my friends in elementary and middle school has her doctorate in Laotian textile studies and a masters in Thai textile studies, and has a book on Laotian textiles due out in 2011 (blog post here, she's mentioned about halfway down it).

Bad: she lives in Bangkok, which means I'm slightly worried about her, with what-all's going on there.

Things seem to be quieting down and going back to semi normal. It's only the day after, but any reds seem to mostly be underground. There was some gunfire reported near a temple in the center of the former red zone, but otherwise, clean-up is going on. Only time will tell.

They burned the government building in my town, but word was that the issues were city center and didn't touch the suburbs.
