Yes, I caved and bought the game based on Marjorie Liu's paranormal romance Tiger Eye. I'd seen way too much squeeing over the cracktasticness of her romances going by on my f-list, and thought the idea of a game would be even more cracktastic.

Have been playing for about 15 minutes. So far: very easy. I think it's a game designed for non-gamers, and is primarily a puzzle game - probably what I imagine dating sims with plot to be. You get a little bit of story, then you get to solve a simple puzzle loosely based on the events. (I do rather hope that the puzzles get a bit harder later on...)

More review later, after Part I is finished (yes, they're releasing it in parts, but there's only 2). Reasonably priced, though, as a download for $6.99. PC only, Mac coming next month.

I look forward to the review! I can't quite believe it would make a reasonable game, no more than a Nora Roberts novel (also in existence), but.

I did not know that this existed! You have enriched my life by posting about it.

I'm going to go write the Anita Blake game now. I think the mechanics will be a little different. And it might be illegal to sell it in Texas.

Don't you know that people who read romance novels could never possibly ever also be gamers? This will be the first game to ever be played by a woman!

Says the non-gamer who reads romance novels, including Liu.

If you would like to modify your non-gamer status, I think it very likely that you would enjoy Chrono Trigger.

I like puzzles, but I can't manage the hand-eye coordination for a lot of shoot em games, and I'm not experienced enough for the really really hard puzzle games, so I'm curious to see how this goes. I like a middling hard game.

Well they did call it a game for casual gamers. If you guys like romances and patience card games - solitaire - this one might be better for you
Heartwild Solitaire Classic - Official Site this one is free and you can read romance short shorts after you've won a game, they also have a pay version with a romance story included in the storyline Heartwild Solitaire

Dear Author.com reviewed a much more horrid romance adventure game yesterday
GAME REVIEW: Harlequin presents Hidden Object of Desire.

Nice romance storylines in games: Thousand Arms where you can pick your love interest (PS1), Rhapsody - A musical strategy rpg (PS1), Lunar - Silver Star Story (PS1), Grandia 1+2 (PS1&PS2).... well, a lot of the japanese rpgs have a beautiful romance storyline included.

The puzzles do get more difficult, but so far not up to the fiendish level of the difficult Professor Layton games, and they have a fairly robust hint system, so I'd recommend it to you. With reservations, as it seems I've hit a bug that's made the main screen nonresponsive. :( I've got an error report in to the company, and we'll see how they respond.

Definitely a casual gamer - the sort who plays Bejeweled and other Popcap games. It's not at the difficulty level of the Professor Layton puzzle games, but they do get more difficult as the game progresses.

I've run into a bug, I think, and have an inquiry into the company right now. We'll see how it goes.

The company is highly responsive, so major points for that! I was the first to report the bug, it seems (they got another report 30 minutes after I sent it in), and it's fixed and will be included in the patch they're going to release in a couple of months. And he had me send in my saved-game file (so he could figure out if it was a bug), and re-set it so that I was at the proper spot and didn't miss anything. I am quite impressed. :)
