You know what I really want to see? A good Saiyuki fic titled "One-eyed Jacks and Suicide Kings." Isn't it, like, the most totally apropos title ever?

I feel like I've seen three sf/f stories by that title already. Which may not be true, but...eeee.

Well, maybe one day I'll have an idea for something in a fandom you read/watch. XD

I'm sure it's a common title, but I was sitting here doodling around for a non-Saiyuki picture that has a card theme and the Sucide King and One-eyed Jack parallels occurred to me.

There may already be Saiyuki fic out there with that title just because it's so obvious, but a five-second Google search didn't turn any up, and I'm certainly not about to hit the Pit of Voles for it.

Lemme get back to you on that when I'm over the flu, if no one else has by then.

I just haven't gotten around to seeing it yet. :D I plan to, just haven't been able to. :(

I could write one, but it would not qualify for the "good" portion.

In a standard deck of playing cards, the King of Hearts is depicted as holding a sword horizontally behind his head, so he looks like he's stabbing himself in the head (http://www.madore.org/~david/images/cards/english/king-hearts.png), hence "suicide king." The jack of spades and the jack of hearts are drawn in profile (http://www.madore.org/~david/images/cards/english/jack-hearts.png), hence the term "one-eyed jack."

Yup. I've played poker with one-eyed jacks and suicide kings wild, and you have to keep peering at your cards to remember which ones are wild and which ones aren't. XD
