WAAAAH!

Well, the person who I am doing the SEEKRIT PICTURE FOR now knows and has seen the "pencils"*, so I can stop being coy and posting about it under filter and such. However, none of YOU are going to see it until it's done and [livejournal.com profile] chomiji's seen it, since it's hers. So there! :D

I just wanted to say two things: first, DAMN BUT I AM IMPRESSED WITH MYSELF and second, it's really damn hard trying to do anime and manga characters in a seriously Art Nouveau style, because Art Nouveau is full of happy fat ladies** and anime ... isn't. I don't expect those of you who don't know what characters are going into it to really be able to ID them easily. Well, except for one.

(ETA: And I FULLY EXPECT to be excoriated occasionally on DA for making the characters "fat" [especially one particular one], since many of them will be completely unfamiliar with Alphonse Mucha, and I expect people to be constantly asking me which characters they are, even when I put the characters' name sin the Comments field.)

* Inasmuch as you can have them in Photoshop.

** In comparison to your average anime character. But I mostly just like saying "happy fat ladies."

"However, none of YOU are going to see it until it's done and chomiji's seen it, since it's hers. So there!"

Not even those who waged a valiant battle against a foreign scanner and spent a lot of time going "Where'd you send the picture? YOU SAID YOU SCANNED IT, SO WHERE'D YOU STORE IT?!?"

You know, they could all look exactly like they do in their individual series, and most STILL probably wouldn't recognize the other 3...

Maybe I show it to you. Maybe not. :)

Hee, probably. Two at least, since they're from such obscure series. XD

ha, I used to refer to the Happy Fat T'ang Ladies we saw in a museum once. (e.g. http://www.tkasianantiquities.com/portfolio/images/380.jpg )

And yes, Mucha was not scared of breasts or hips or slightly thick waists. Yet somehow he gets knocked off by Japanese artists all the time. (I'm guessing your average Comiket attendee might have a better idea of who he is, compared to your average DA fanartist. Then again, Japan has a whole little museum devoted to him [it's the Yosano Akiko + Alphonse Mucha museum! it's like something I made up in a particularly pleasant but screwy dream!] oh god stuck in a parenthetical maze of my own making.)

Also, now that I've found my way past the parens, I hope we get to see them eventually!

Hrm...

Who betrayed the SEEKRIT PICTURE? (I want to suborn her too!)

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I DID MYSELF by leaving one of the seeekrit entries unlocked. :D I wasn't positive she'd seen the entry or not, but it was actually driving me nuts not to be able to show the picture to anyone because it was turning out so good, so I went ahead and emailed it to her. XD

I haven't had much spare time to reply to your coy filtered posts about it before, but I just wanted to say I am also excited and eager to see this piece when it is ready to share with the world!

Also, yay for happy fat ladies!
