With a cast like Daniel Craig, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Andy Serkis, and Toby Jones, and stunning animation, The Adventures of Tintin shouldn't be this damn dull.
Yup. They spent basically no time on characterization, really, as if the movie were made for people who already knew the characters and their history and not for people who'd never heard of Tintin. (I knew of Tintin's existence, and I think read some when I was in Africa, but I was five at the time, so didn't really understand it!)
I've not seen the movie, mostly because I always remember being bored by nearly every Tintin story I read when I was younger. I suspect this to be partly because it just wasn't as funny to me as Asterix & Obelisk at the time. :)
I have vague memories of Tintin from when I was in Africa--I think I might have had 1 or 2 comics then. But I don't remember any of it, as I was 5 at the time. :)
