Visual disturbance. It's not from my eyes because it's in both, which means it's from my brain. Which means it's most likely that I now have aura with migraine, or am getting an ocular migraine. Fuuuuuuuck.

We stopped by a fast-food place for breakfast this morning, and I ordered Dr. Pepper but I'm still congested enough that I couldn't tell what it tasted like other than "sweet water". Wonder if they gave me a diet soda by mistake? I know they contribute to my migraines.

If anyone's curious, the disturbance is just to the right of center, and started out as the right half of an oval, kinda of kaleidoscopic, and is now slowly widening (still the right half) into a kind of squashed boomerang of kaleidoscopic fragments.

[edit] And now it's gone, about 30 minutes after it started, which is bang on time according to Dr. Google for an ocular migraine (30-60 minutes). Now to see if it's a thing in and of itself or if it's a precursor to a pain-type migraine. And if it's a thing in and of itself, then what do I do if it shows up when I'm driving? Guess I pull over and play with my phone if I'm not close to home.

fyi, the squashed boomerang of kaleidoscopic fragments just got wider and wider and wider until it passed out of my field of view.

Toby took me home this morning (and went back in to work after lunch) because I've got a headache that's threatening to turn into a migraine and the florescent lights in my office combined with staring at a screen wasn't helping.

The cats' reactions to us arriving home in the middle of the day:

Nefer: Wha--? Oh, hey, you're home early. Pet me. Pet me. Peeeeeeeeet meeeeeeeee.

Sora: HOSHIT HOSHIT HOSHIT THEYRETAKINGMETOTHEVET *slinks at top speed, as close to the floor as possible, into a hiding spot*

No idea where Sora is right now, but I figure if I go looking for him, he'll just get that much more traumatized. I expect if I go lie down and try to sleep, he'll probably come out of hiding and curl up near me.

*I have an actual window in the office in the new part of the building, once construction is complete on that bit in a couple of weeks. I am hoping that the light coming in will be easier on my eyes and head.

I have a day off work due to an ice storm and I can't even enjoy it because I have a migraine. (I assume due to the change in air pressure overnight.)

On the bright side, my meds have kicked the pain down to mere pressure, instead of pain, so I can at least look at a computer monitor without causing intense pain, on the other hand I am now stoned* and about to fall asleep again.

My current goal in life is to stay upright and dick around on the intartubes until I can't keep my eyes open any longer, then go sleep. I believe this is an achievable goal.

* My current cocktail is a mix of half a promethazine, and hydrocodone. Doesn't always work, especially if I wait too long to take it, but for now it is.

Two glasses of red wine = two days of migraine. Whee.

Earlier this weekend, before I drank the fatal two glasses of red wine, Toby and I went to see The Equalizer. Verdict: it is exactly what it says on the box. Which isn't to say that's a bad thing! It also has one of the most epic slow-motion walking-away-from-an-explosion scenes that I've seen in a long time, and Toby's and my laughing uncontrollably during that bit was more a recognition of This Is the Way It Should Be, rather than a demerit. The Escapist calls it a "near-perfect dad movie," and that pretty much nails it on the head.

Other than that, I have spent the past two days sleeping during the day and remaining awake at night because of said sleeping during the day. I am at work today, and my goal is mostly to not sleep during the day so I can sleep at the proper time tonight.

Headache. Maybe due to the storms coming in, maybe due to Toby waking me up at 5AM. :) He heard something that sounded like 4 knocks on the front door, and his brain went immediately to "home invasion!" so he jumped out of bed, turned the light on (which is what woke me up), and tore out of the room with no explanation. He spent some time out of the room, during which I was mostly fuming that if he turned the light on just because a cat had thrown up (which is what usually wakes us up), then I was going to be so angry. After a bit he came back, having discovered nothing wrong, and explained it, after which I was still grumpy because now I didn't have a rally good reason to be grumpy (you know how that goes). We looked around more after we got up for real and discovered nothing out of place, so the current working hypotheses are (a) Toby dreamed it or (b) pranksters knocking on doors and running.

Other than that, it's been mostly dull around here. Well, I lie. Nefer had to go in to the vet Thursday and got 4 teeth out--3 were holey and 1 was a tiny one the vet thought she might have damaged as she was removing another, so removed it also but didn't charge us for it--and spent a couple of days locked up in the spare bedroom so we could check if she was eating or not, since Sora eats food from every dish that's out. She wasn't eating by Friday noon so Toby went to the vet and got some super-stinky food that the vet characterized as "Wendy's hamburgers for cats" and an anti-nausea pill. She still didn't eat the super-stinky food, nor her favorite food (saltine crackers, wtf?), so I came home early and we tag-teamed her, held her down wrapped in a towel, and shoved a portion of the pill down her throat. By the end of the day, it looked like she'd nosed into the stinky food a a bit, and by Saturday morning she had definitely eaten and hit the litterbox. So, yay. She wanted to come out of the spare bedroom then, so we let her out.

By Sunday afternoon she was begging me for pieces of raw chicken as I was prepping food for dinner, so I think she's all better now. :)

My migraine has moved to the back of my head, which may mean it's gone to just a general tension-related headache now. A good excuse to get Toby to rub my shoulders when I get home!

argh &^$#*$%^ migraine.

Working from home at the moment so I don't have to be in a room of flourescent light. Looking at the screen isn't helping much, but if I can jsut get these 2 urgent things done at work, then I can take the afternoon off without (much) guilt...

Aaarrrgghh

Lost yesterday afternoon to a migraine. It's still hanging around at the edges of my perception, where I hope it stays because we would really like to go buy a car today. I'm waiting back on an email from the salesman we've been negotiating with online over it, and the next step is to go in with our appraisal from CarMax and see if they'll meet or beat it. Which means--provided he's not off work today, and I have no idea if he is or not--we could have a new car as soon as tonight. Or it might be a day or two.

We watched all of series 3 of FMA:Brotherhood this weekend and ep 1 of series 4. And regret that we have to work today so we can't spend all day sitting around watching it. :)

Bleh :P

Migraine meds making me groggy. Thunderstorms. Guess I'm not leaving the house today, huh? My revised plan is to struggle with getting the games I bought during Steam's summer sale today, and maybe start them. (The struggle is that I've got a Mac and some of them are PC-only, so I have to use VMware or reboot into Windows, and I haven't done that in so long there are a billion updates.)

However, if you've seen Pacific Rim or don't care about spoilers, Hello Tailor has an article analyzing the costumes over at Bleeding Cool.

Woke up this morning at 6AM to a thunderstorm and a migraine. Took meds, went back to sleep. Toby woke up up at 10:30, and I dozed until a bit after 11, when he wen to the store to get the one thing we needed for the recipes we were going to make today. And then he ended up doing all the cooking and cleaning while I sat on a chair reading the Black Company books and waiting for the headache that was lingering to subside. The pain is now gone, although there's still a heavy feeling in my head.

Goal for today: not to nap so I can get to sleep at a reasonable time.

At least I did finish the tenth and (currently) final book of the Black Company. I'd remembered nothing except for the final scene, so it was like reading it for the first time having been spoiled to the ending. XD Anyway. Ten books is a hell of a lot to read within three weeks that included a major convention and an actual 40-hour-a-week job. (My younger self would scoff at that, having the capacity to put away 2 or 3 books a day if allowed to do nothing but read.)
