There's a book by Gordon Korman I read many years ago,
Don't Care High
, that has a character in it, Mike Otis, who is reclusive and pays so little attention to the things that surround him that he has no idea that the main characters have nominated him for student body president and are running a campaign for him.
I often think of Mike Otis when playing Murderface, most especially because one of his very few lines of dialogue is something in the neighborhood of "I don't really understand a lot of things that go on."
I think that might be one of Murderface's guiding philosophies, although he's a bit more proactive than Mike Otis. He just assumes that somebody else knows what's going on so he doesn't have to worry about it.
